Where to Get a Manicure in Charlotte?

June 21, 2017

Michelle L. Trogdon

I recently visited Polished Nail Bar in South End and had a manicure and pedicure. Once I walked in, I was immediately greeted by friendly staff ready to set up my desired service. The atmosphere is open, airy, and busy! Customers were seated along the back wall in high-back, white tufted chairs and around a central bar area while upbeat music played in the background. The space felt modern, fresh, and glam with crystal ball chandeliers, a "disco" wall and swinging tiered shelf full of polish options.

There are a few locations throughout Charlotte to check out. The South End location is conveniently located on South Blvd inside the Pavilion. You can park in a few spots in front, on the side streets, or a few spots behind the building. All locations are open daily between 9:30am-7:30pm and Sundays 1-5pm.

It took a few minutes to select my nail color because they have an unbelievable amount of options.

They have multiple brands including Essie (my favorite) and O.P.I., and gel polishes too. I opted for "Perennial Chic", a neutral close to my skin tone. My technician already had a bath drawn and was ready to begin my pedicure and a complementary mimosa was on it's way.

What to expect:

A basic mani and pedi took approximately an hour to complete, but I stayed a little longer to finish my drink and let my nails dry a bit. The service was straight forward: soak, remove old polish (I felt bad because I had like five layers of polish on my toes), nail trim and file, cuticle TLC, buff, exfoliate, lotion, massage, base coat, two coats of polish, top coat, and slippers. I apparently take better care of my hands since I didn't require much cuticle TLC.

My advice is to pick your nail color before setting up your service, and definitely get an adult beverage. The space is large enough with plenty of seating to welcome walk-in clients for basic manis and pedis. If you are looking for additional services or have a large group, you may need an appointment. Also, make sure you have cash for tips and check out their website for daily specials.

The bottom line - I was overall pleased with my pedicure, but my manicure was a little lacking in terms of coverage. I don't expect it to last more than a week as my nails grow. I could have done a better job, but it literally takes TWO DAYS for me to paint my nails. It was worth it and I will definitely be a return customer.
